A few people have asked me about my avatar photo. It is a card trick pattern using border or stripe prints. After I saw this pattern, I was on a mission for several months buying interesting stripe fabrics. If you look closely at each block, the border fabrics make a rectangle like a fancy deck of cards and I tried very hard to match up all the lines, scrolls, flowers, etc. This was a pattern that you can't do by strip piecing or easy cutting methods.

Anyway, the quilt was purchased from me by an elderly gentleman quilt collector who fell in love with it at a quilt show. Apparently, he decorates his large country estate with quilts and changes the displays often.
At first I was reluctant to sell it to him, because I loved it so much myself. Then my husband said that since I seem to enjoy the process of making quilts, I could make another 'heirloom' quilt, and another one.
Guess what - I'm still collecting great border fabric because I know I will eventually try to make another quilt using this pattern!

Shows borders, which are mitered too

Stunning! I've always liked that pattern, but the stripes really make it unique. Love your color choices.

You did a fantastic job on this quilt. I love the card tricks block and can see where it can't be an easy one to make with stripes. Love the different size card tricks. Beautiful quilt.

You've got a great hubby that understands you will make another one, then another one, then ...
