I love it when the Bluebonnets come out every year! This is a little patch that popped up in my new subdivision. Will try and get some better pics when I see some. You can usually find full fields of them when mother nature has given us a good season for them.

I've never been to Texas, but had the impression it's dry heat and rattle snakes.

What a charming side to a great state.

Depends on the part of Texas you are in. The South Plains (nw Texas) is pretty flat and a little dry..good farming country. Far west is mountains and semi-arid. Central part is rolling hills with lots of live oaks and cedars. South and east are piney woods with lots of vegetation. It's big enough you get a lot of diversity! This time of year, the bluebonnets in the Austin area are just beautiful. Lady Bird Johnson has a wonderful wildflower museum that is worth the visit if you are ever in the Austin area.

I do hope I can visit Texas some day.

I'm kicking around the notion of leaving Maryland and settling in Colorado with my big sis and niece.

But, thinking about it is fine, but actually doing it, and pulling up the stakes and moving is quite another thing.

Yes, well we have those rattlesnakes too. Actually, I have had nightmares about them for a week now. Snakes scare me to death.

I think it all stems from when I was about 6 years old and stumbled across a Coral snake. It was about 3 feet from the path my Mom, siblings and I were walking on to take groceries in the house. I was the first one to notice it. Ran straight to the car, jumped in, locked the doors and starting honking the horn hysterically. Was crying too of course. Had been warned by my parents which ones to watch out for as we lived in the boonies.

Is a funny thought now and my older siblings like to tease me about it. I could have not warned anyone and left them to fend for themselves. They should be thankful!

Ooooh! Those are pretty! I saw lots of them along the side of the highway when I drove across Texas last April on my roadtrip. My friend showed me how the guys that mow along the road have to go AROUND them when they're in bloom :D

ohhh, the bluebonnets are in bloom! My mom and dad used to live in Austin, and we would go down just to see the bluebonnets. They don't live there anymore, and bluebonnets don't grow in this part of Texas. Thanks for sharing!!
