Default First quilt - 18 or so months later

This thread shows the first quilt I finished - flannel monkeys for a grandboy.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ge-t63283.html

It is the only thing on his bed - it's both a sheet and a blanket to him. It has been much loved and frequently washed - went through his no-more-diaper-but-oh-my stage with him when it was washed almost daily. I was at my daughter's house this weekend and looked it over carefully. I didn't know much at the time - corners aren't mitered, binding varies in width a bit .. sometimes more than a bit. But the seams still seem tight and ... it's much loved. Hopefully this will be true years from now! I made it too long for his toddler bed - thinking it would move to a bunk bed later, but I'm glad I did - on more than one occasion I've found Dad or Mom and boy napping on the parent's bed with these beloved monkeys. The crib size I first had in mind would not have served as well.

The other picture is a current one of that same boy.

It is great to see a quilt being used and loved! I can't stand it when I gift a quilt and hear "that's to nice to use for a baby blanket" . That what they are made for and I am by no m eans a master quilter! He looks like a adorable rough and tumble boy! Enjoy him..the get big fast!

I think the flannels are holding up surprising well, too. All the fabric was from Jo-Ann's and it's not pilling - looks pretty good!
