    Could I get away with something like that for a "under $6" gift exchange? The one I have pieced looks more like $20!

    Absolutely - it doesn't take too much fabric for the trees (just 2.5" by width of fabric and they could be repeated if you wanted)and you certainly could use scraps or material from your stash if you wanted. You can decide if you want to make it into the table topper with both sides or a wallhanging. Have fun with it!
