Summer quilts - graduates
#11
A friend and I do quilts for newborns of co-workers. That's about 2 a year from our elementary school. Hadn't even thought about the babies at church - we would have nowhere near that many!

Sunday morning I set out the graduate quilts on a table in the church building. A bit later I was headed to teach my Bible class when I heard one of the ladies show the boy grads their quilts. I got to hear the "wows", "oh mans!" and other manly cries of glee. Then the youth director came up to them and they ooed and ahhed some more. When he asked them if they knew where I was so they could thank me, I came around the corner. Those big, old, guys were HUGGING their quilts and rubbing all over them. It was too cool. I told them about the lady who'd made quilts for my kids when they graduated and that I was trying to restart that tradition. I didn't realize, but they were packed and ready to leave for their last year at church camp so I told them they could just leave them and pick them up next week on their way home from camp. Oh no! Those quilts were going to camp! So funny. I'm not sure they'll all make it home from camp, but ... from their reaction --- maybe! This was such great fun! I may need to start looking for some sale fabric to start on the next batch.
