Default My first pieced block!

There are many of you that have been so patient with me and my many, many questions. I appreciate all your help!!

Here is a picture of my very first pieced block. The young man (one of my former students now teaching me) at the quilting store taught me how to do folded square half triangles - couldn't be any simpler. The problem that I had with this was that the pattern was for a 9" block and I wanted it to be a 12" block. So figuring that out was a challenge, but once again, Aaron to the rescue. While he couldn't do the man, he did clue me into breaking it down into 9 blocks instead of trying to resize the entire thing.

Another problem was that the vertical bars didn't line up right under the center square. So I had to take it apart, remake the half square triangle - again a problem with resizing. But all in all, I think I did pretty good.

Thankfully, I'm only making one for this project!!

WOW - very nice - and it looks like you won't be cutting off your points on your triangles when you sew this block to another block or sashing - Way to go!

You did a pretty good job on your first block. We're all beginners at some time, it will get easier.

Wonderful job for your first block, or even 100th block for that matter! Resizing can be tricky, and your block came out great!
