Are you talking about a 9P with HST on the two opposite corners to give the effect that Sheepy has shown?

That's how I'd do it to avoid the set-in seams.

Default One way to do it

Katz - Here would be one way to do it:

1) You are using precut Jellyroll strips, 2.5 inches wide.
2) Your finished block in the quilt will measure 6x6 inches.
3) The *strata* would be three strips of your jelly roll... dark+center+light
4) Cut the strata in 2.5 inch segments (thats the center strip)
5) Cut a strip of the DARK jellyroll color 2.5 x 6.5 inches and stitch a square (2.5x2.5 inches) diagonally of the light onto the end. Make sure it faces the correct direction; press outwards and trim.
6) Cut a strip of the LIGHT jellyroll color 2.5 x 6.5 inches, and stitch a 2.5 " square of the dark color diagonally to the end (make sure it faces the correct direction), press outwards and trim.
7) Sew the three vertical strips together... Viola!
