kathyd...an awesome t-shirt quilt!! I am getting ready to do my oldest child's shirts too...I have ironed the interfacing and cut out the t-shirts. She has so many that I have them all cut out different sizes to get them all in 1...who would have thought to add them to the back!!:))(Great idea too!)I will have to puzzle piece mine...:0)Thanks for sharing...love it! Great t-shirt quilt! Your nephew will love it for sure.

In the past month or so I've cut up all my young grandson's t-shirts that he's grown out of with the idea of making him a quilt either for xmas or his b'day in 2009. Geesh I didn't think of saving the backs to use like you did, love that idea. Instead I used them to wash the car etc!

Well he's just turning 9 so I know he'll be growing out of more shirts and next time I'm saving the backs!

thanks for sharing

Glad everyone likes the quilt. I have to tell you though, doing the back as well as the front was my husband's idea. He's so smart. He also helped with the "puzzle piecing" of the different sizes. We did many layouts before we found one that worked. We also tried to balance colors so that it wasn't too white or red on one side.
PS the sleeves that didn't get used do make great staining rags for woodwork and waxing rags for cars.

Awesome T-shirt quilt! How clever to use the backs for the back. Husbands do come in handy for good ideas and getting you out of tight spots! Mine comes through all the time! He's a keeper.
