I sat in on the Saturday class on the table runner. I don't have a computer near my sewing so I took notes and then afterwards I went in and worked on this. All that is left is hand stitching the binding. Wish I could figure out to do that on the machine.....any hints? I figured out what the "girls" are getting for Christmas this year! Thanks for the class Debbie and Mimi and everyone! :D

I love what you did with the patterns Doods. And your center block is interesting and very pretty! I loved that class. Going to be teaching my two sisters how to do it when they come over tomorrow. You did a really great job. It's so pretty for the holidays. :)

You win...your center is the most creative I've seen. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

that's fab, your center block is really lovely, choice Christmas colours

Re Binding: There is a way you can machine stitch binding. Sew your binding on by machine as normal, except you sew it to the back instead of the front, then fold binding over to the front and topstitch it down on the front on the machine, isn't as tidy on the back as hand sewn binding but is alot quicker. There was a post about this somewhere but I forget where it was. Hope that helps some.

ShellyQ, I want to try that technique! Might look neater than my hand stitching on the back. How do you handle the corners?

Same way as when you hand stitch on the back cept you do it on the front, make a neat little fold so it looks like a mitre. You may want to place a few hand stitches in it to anchor the fold afterwards if you feel it needs it. I don't always ,depends what it's for. Also I still usually slip stitch the join together by hand.
