Smile The table runner I made with Shiva Painstciks

I have bought a couple of samples of the Shiva Paintsticks a few months back and been dying to try them. Finally got the motivation to do so when my sister sent me pictures of her new place overseas (she recently moved overseas with her husband for a work contract) and I noticed her coffee table was naked, lol. She is not a big fan of traditional quilts so I thought a painted table runner may be something she'd like. I found a design I liked (one for Hawaiian applique actually), modified it a bit, traced it on freezer paper, cut a stencil out of the FP, pressed it onto a block and painted away it was a fun and quick project. I then decided to do an outline embroidery stitch around each design and put the blocks together. For quilting, I stippled in the background and stitched in the ditch around the painted design. I really like how this one turned out. She doesn't know I am making it, so it'll be a surprise, hope she likes it.

I like it. I am a big fan of Hawaiian applique so the design appeals, and I like the way you stitched around the designs. Really nice job, I am sure your sister will love it!

Very pretty! I bought some cheaper-than-Shiva paint sticks but haven't tried them yet. I seem to remember reading or hearing someone complain about the smell not going away, even after heat setting. Did you find that to be an issue? They are so expensive, but they look beautiful on fabric. I almost splurged on a package of them at the.Houston Quilt Show.

I have some Shiva upstairs; you've inspired me to give them a try.
