Default Teenager's first quilt, a scrappy pinwheel

Just had to show you the quilt my 16 year old neighbor Samantha made. I gave her free rein on my stash, she chose all the fabrics and the pattern. We went to Joann's together, she chose the blue chambray for sashings and border. I cut the pieces, and helped her pin the squares, then she sewed everything. I ripped out what wasn't quite right, she sewed again. She embroidered the sashings on my machine. I pinned the rows, and she sewed all of them. Then we pinned it together with backin and batting, and she quilted it on my machine. I just finished sewing the binding for her last evening. She is an artist, has a much better eye for color than me, and worked hard this summer to complete the project. I am so proud of her work, and what great fun for me, not to mention her company. She's a great kid.

Very Pretty what an awesome job ! It was so good of you to teach her and I know you really enjoyed working on this with her. I have a 19 yr old GD that just told me she wanted to learn to quilt. She will be coming hopefully in Nov when she as a school break. I want to do the same thing let her pick out the pattern and colors. Can't wait for her to come.

What a great project to do together - she will always remember. She made some great choices when she shopped your stash. Very pretty quilt!

to be so young and to go after that many HST's is remarkable. How nice of you to mentor her ;-)

It is so good to see quilting being passed on to the new generation. What patience you have and how grateful she must be, as well as you being proud of her. I bet she is proud of you.
