My maternal grandmother celebrated her 90th birthday yesterday. She doesn't remember people so well. Kept saying I looked familiar. I told her it's because I look just like her and she sees my face in the mirror every morning. "You must be a grandaughter," she says. "Why, yes," I tell her. "I'm your favorite."

Then I gave her the quilt, and told her I named it Thanksgiving Memories because I thought of her the whole time I was making it and was thankful for all the wonderful things she taught me and for family she raised. She still doesn't remember my name but now she says, "I know you - you're the granddaughter that made my beautiful quilt. You're my favorite, right?"

    Ha! Take that, Cousin Robyn!!

My aunt Wilma was up and saw my efforts before I was done and was inspired to try her hand. The second picture is of her and I in front of her first quilt!

    Becka,
Love the stories you have to go with your quilts.
Both of the quilts are very beautiful as is the heart of the one who made them.

What an inspiration your grandmother is to you. By the look on her face, you can tell she knows who you are. Your a blessing.

Great story.......... we all should be so lucky to live that long and still be able to quilt......... We have one lady in our quilt group who is 96 years young..... still making quilts and is a wealth of information. She also makes her own soap, has a very large garden. So enjoyable to be around.
