Welcome to the Quilting Board!

I agree with the others. I think they are just jealous of your work.
That was what was said on the Fon's and Porter show the other day. They were doing Bargello quilts and one of them didn't number her rows, and it got out of order, but the quilt still looked great, as your quilts do.Originally Posted by signitwright

I have learned that there are toxic people out there and I just stay away from them. It has taken me a while to learn that life is too short to get upset with small minded people. Thanks for all you have said. Pam, you hit the nail on the head when you said that she said it to make herself feel important.

That is true in any walk of life. I once had person tell me that my stitches were interesting--her nasty way of saying too big. I wanted to yank her hair and get in her face and say how big are yours! But I didn't just had the urge real bad.
Ouch! I've had friends who have encountered similar situations. As a quilter I apologize for that lady's extreme rudeness. I agree with Mary, stay away from such toxic and bitter people if you can and certainly don't take anything they say to heart. As someone who has worked quilt shows for years (I want to get licensed to judge!), the one thing I have learned is that no two people have the same taste. If you had entered that particular quilt in a show, I guarantee you that there would have been people there who would have absolutely loved it!Originally Posted by Queen
I sure hope that experience doesn't keep you from enjoying the thrill of having your quilt displayed in a fair or show. It really is very exciting and I must confess I am guilty of standing nearby and trying to overhear what people say about my quilts. I remind myself when I hear a negative comment that not everyone has the same taste and if possible I try to turn the negative comment into a positive, figuring out how to improve my work. Please, don't let one miserable lady ruin quilt shows for you.
