    he actually used screws.. he put about 5 yardsticks together and clamped them together and screwed the top,, bottom and middle together.. then he went down the yardstick every 1 1/2" for a new screw.. of course it would depend on how close you want your spools. we did it 1 1/2 inches so we could get max use.
