It is a great block. Fell in love w it 20 + years ago when I saw it in a vintage quilt magazine. Center is not applique it is sewn.

Google 3d bow tie block and you will find free instructions on how to sew one.

Very cute. I made a baby quilt with them years ago. They are so cute and addictive when you start making them.
