I'm sorry, did you mention how many ties you used for this quilt? If not, how many? :-)

I did mention it but I don't mind tellin you. I had 171 ties. I needed 192 to have a different tie for every blade of the fans. So I had to use 21 twice. If I can help you with anything else don't hesitate to ask.

Hi all
I found the Fons & Porter book Quick Quilts From the Heart at Amazon.com. I got a used one for $2.99. They had several. Give it a try.

Ordered mine today from e-bay for 5.99 plus S&H. Can't type worth a hoot tonight. Arthur visiting bigtime.
Anyway, can't wait to start collecting the ties and get to working on this. Figure it will take about a year or so. If all works out, maybe I will enter it in the fair next year.

Wow~ a 192 ties! Did you wash/clean them before using? Since most ties are to be dry - cleaned, how is this to be washed when needed? Just wondering.

The lady that had the ties washed them in a washer and dried them in a dryer. I ironed them and then ironed on a very light weight iron-on stabilizer. I guess it would be ok to wash and dry it if needed. Hope this answers your question.

I got one on Amazon also. Now to find some ties. I'm sure we threw out all of my husbands except for a few when he took retirement. I guess I'll have to hit the thrift stores.

I'm not sure how I missed this quilt earlier but it is a beauty. It is going to be treasured and handed down through the family. I love it. Did you use the fan pattern or make one of your own?
