I like to have my blocks completely sashed all the way around before I add the border, so if I were making this I would add the cream blocks, then add a narrow "stop" border and then add the border you have shown. But as you know, there are no quilt police!

Bonnie Hunter is working on a Sister's Choice quilt this week on her site www.quiltville.blogspot. Look for her free pattern and see if it gives you some ideas. It looks like you have already added the large brown border or is that a banker underneath? If so maybe you can appliqué the white cornerstones to complete the design? If not I would add the brown sashing and corner stones to finish the design.

I think I would add the cornerstones in order to break up the brown. Then I would add an outside border to complete it. I love your quilt, btw!

That is a brown blanket underneath. All I have are the squares and the lattice between them. Nothing on the outside framing the larger squares (top/bottom or sides). So the small cream squares should be continued through the outside trim?

Thanks Mimi. It's much better than I thought it would be considering the stars are just made out of scraps.

I would complete the lattice all the way around the quilt just as you have it in the center, then add a border. I know you used scraps, but I'm kinda thinking of a red border...
Love it so far!!!

Looking at it, I agree in adding the cream squares to finish blocking in your blocks. then add additional border. Great quilt!!

that quilt is going extremely well. I agree with Artsyone. I would put on an outer sashing, a plain narrow row then the border you planned, unless that makes the quilt too big, in which case, leave off the outer sashing.
