My mom bought this pattern and started making these purses. It's from Quiltsillustrated.com and is called the Bow Tucks Tote. Cute play on words.

Anyhoo, I liked it so much, I asked her to make me one using this cool fabric I bought two years ago at the quilt show in Lancaster.

She did. Then she taught me how to make them and here are some of our tote bags.

Most of these are Christmas presents and only a distant memory.

Some more:

I like to take pictures for my memories, but I've made so many of these now, I've forgotten half of them.

No matter how skilled I get at making them, they are time consuming to make. There's a lot of stuff to do to make them and there's no way around it, it takes me half a day.

Thanks. I haven't dusted the chalk off of some of those yet. :)

I've made three of the first one and can't keep 'em. My mom's made one and I have fabric enough to make another. But, can't find the fabric anymore. And friends are requesting them.

In fact, I've gotta get about five more yards of it if I can find it. It's available online, but the store where I bought it sold out.

It's Benartex's Madame Butterfly, purple/lime. Paula Nadelstern, Guilded Opulence line. And the striped fabric is in the same line.

Each bag is lined with the same fabric that's on the bottom and there are pockets inside that are the same fabric as the focus top fabric.
