oh my GOODNESS!! they are divine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you really did come upon such a rare find! i know in my mind's eye i can see a lady sitting on a stool in the middle of the great prarie under the stars, kids asleep in the wagon, while she sews little bits of cloth together under kerosene lamplight. i know i cannot hold a candle to those ladies or their remarkable talents.

It makes me very sad to see that someone discarded a home made quilt and especially ones a beautiful as those. But our younger generation feels most things are disposal able. I would never throw it out.

I have two of my grandmas quilts. I will never get rid of them especially since one was made when my dad, now 90, was 11. It is not in very good shape but it was made by her and I actually have the picture of her standing in front of the quilt. It is one of me prized processions.

How wonderful of you to save it. It would be nice to find out who made it. Was there a label of any kind?
