Default Tying a donation quilt...the guys helping

I just had to show who I recruit to help me when the girls aren't around. I got three quilts ready to tie and then called up my son and friend who were playing computer games in the game room and a visitor who will be involved with some camps later on in the summer.

Anyway, since my daughter isn't here to help and her fingers just fly when tying, nor is her best friend hanging around, i had to use who I had. They willingly helped me. We got three tied in about 45 minutes. (I put the threads in and then we tied them sort of like in a marathon.)

This one is a scrappy chinese coins. Just to show you that all kinds of people help with donation quilts!

What good-looking boys! And they seem to be enjoying themselves! My DS & his BFF used to be quite helpful to me when I would clean my sewing room. At first, they called all the fabric "calico" but by the end of the session, they were arguing about which fabric was the prettiest, "It's the Jinny Beyer!", "No! It's the Hoffman!". It was too cute! Congrats on getting your quilts done & showing your "students" the joy of quilting!

all of the guys in my family sew & quilt- one time i witnessed someone teasing one of the boys (when he was about 14) for sewing- he was working on a quilt he designed- and someone called him a sissy-boy---he turned around and replied---
" you obviously know nothing about history----men have been sewing for hundreds-probably thousands of years---men are taylors, designers, fabric designers---Men Rule the Textile world---it's women who are new & out of their element when it comes to sewing!"
his (teaser) walked away red-faced and about 2 weeks later showed up asking if we would teach him to make a quilt---he loved the one my nephew had made! last time i saw him he came in for help making a hunting outfit (jacket & pants) for himself

That's neat. My sons have all helped through the years with tying quilts and a couple of them have helped with the sewing part as well, but not much.
