Default All Scrappy Double Spools

This is a pattern from the 30's that showed each block with sashing. I eliminated the sashing to bring out the best of this block as it becomes more graphic when the blocks are joined. My only goal was to use a different stripe in each block so 30 stripes were used. The blocks fall into place naturally so it was easy to piece. Borders had to be fed in so I have some nips and tucks to redo, but overall I love the effect. I found more ISpy so I had to include it as my love for it grows in each quilt I do. The giraffe and panda are irresistible. There's a monkey. There's an Indian on horseback and even a block of chickens mixed with paw prints! It makes the quilt more interesting! Hope you enjoy it like I do! Last week's quilt was Double Irish Chain and this week's is Double Spools so I'm on a 'doubles' kick! Don't know what next week's quilt will be! Here are some close ups too.

Beautiful quilt. What a great pattern.Wonderful work. Makes me want to go look at some of my DM's old 1930 and 40's patterns. I have not looked at them in years and might find some treasures.
