That is a beautiful top! The colors are still so bright! I would definately use a cotton batting and a good quality muslin on the back. Unless you have some vintage fabric, I don't think I would add a border.
Please show it again when you finish it! :thumbup: :-D

I would certainly gently wash before you quilt because even tho fabics look sturdy the last thing you want is to put all the work in and then it to disintegrate on 1st wash---------this happened to me with a vintage tablecloth ,I embroidered it lovingly andit went to pieces when gently washed.
