Default United States Air force Quilt

We took my 11 yr old GSo the USAF Museum wed and thursday in Dayton Ohio. Talk about a surprise. There on one of the walls was the most beautiful quilt ever.

Its the 50th Anniversay USAF Quilt it was given to the museum on behalf of the men an woman of the US air force. there are more than 100 handmade squares from every air Force installation throughout the world.
Its 20x20 feet.
The thread used to join the squares flew aboard the space Shuttle Atlantis on Sept 22 1997 mission. Final assembly took more thean 3 months, including 500 hours to hand embroider the lettering.
My picture doesn't do it justice

WOWSER - that is some quilt. My son retired from the AF and if he could see this, he would be very proud. Thank you for sharing.

That is some quilt! They must have used some heavy duty mounting system to hang it up. Incredible!

That is incredible. If I ever have a chance to go to Dayton I will be sure to get there to see it.

That is a great Museum to visit. Our friend lived near it and we visted it with him a few years ago. He passed in 2008. That is such a beautiful quilt.
