Default Upholstery fabric wall hanging

Someone that my husband knew retired from upholstery making. He brought me home a huge amount of fabric and while some of it was cotton it was not quilting fabric.

I took apart a sample book and took out the matching colors to make this wall hanging. I would not try to wash it as I think that it would shrink and the red would run but I like the way it turned out and it was fun to experiment with.

I thought I would post it as I sometimes see questions about upholstery fabric. I have a few more books to take apart and experiment with.

I have used fabrics from those books to make crazy quilts also. I don't use the heavy stiff stuff though.

If you still have the book you removed the fabric samples from, it will tell you the cleaning code of the material.
Whenever one of the fabric reps comes in and goes to toss any of their sample books because the line has been discontinued, I save them for a friend who makes fabulous purses with the sample pieces.

I have used all kinds of upholstery fabric for tote bags. I wash it before cutting and sewing and have had very good luck especially with the smooth cottons.

Thanks for the comments. The book actually said that the fabric should be used for curtains and perhaps throw pillows but to be cautious as the red could run. That is why I made something that would not be washed. I have made lots of table runners and tote bags from the upholstery fabric but wanted to do something quilty.

Wow that looks great, can"t help with the washing, only advice would be a color catching in the wash.
