I made this lap quilt for a friend of mine from China. She's a student at our local college. She was going home for the summer and I wanted to give her something. I was going to do the "Warm Wishes" pattern but decided to just use the striped material. I got this "bright idea" about 2 weeks before she was to go home. haha Anyway, I got it done and did SID on my machine. To brighten up the edge, I sewed strips of the rainbow fabric together.
I used the fabric with the cats because Victoria loves my mom' s cats...Boo and Tiger. She loves the colors of the rainbow and she likes to work jigsaw puzzles when she stays with my mom and dad. I found the red print fabric with the English alphabet and thought it would be neat to use it because she is learning our language. She will be coming back in a few weeks to attend college again.

Her parents will really love this, as it will let them know that folks in the US really care about their daughter, when she is so far away. Good for you!
