Default Vintage Applique Butterfly Quilt

Last year I acquired a vintage applique butterfly quilt top. Each butterfly is made from a different fabric, and they are all interesting prints. The background of each block is made from a sugar sack, with faded printing still visible on some of them. I added a border, and Mom quilted it (with a little quilting done by me and other family members). We chose a batting that didn't require close quilting, so that we could make good progress on it while I was visiting her last winter.

We made our summer trip to Mom's in ND last week and put on the binding. We had so much fun doing this quilt, and it is now on the queen sized bed in our guest room. It will be treasured!

Wow! Imagine all the hands that have worked on this quilt and love that everyone put in to it. The butterflies are so pretty and iconic. I wish I had saved this top: It reminds me so much of my mom and Ma-ma (her mother).

That's a delightful quilt! It's so nice that you were all able to work on it together. That will add to its charm.
