Default Welcome back to the world of quilting Gibette

I have a long distance friend I have never met in person. We are like sisters and talk on the phone at least 3-4 times a week. She has made many quilt tops (I believe she donated 26 quilts to the cancer unit at the hospital) but she has not ventured into FMQ so she ties all her quilts. She quit quilting three years ago when her sister Kathy passed away from cancer. I have been trying for three years to encourage her back to quilting (without success) as I feel she does an amazing piecing job.
Here are a few she has done in the past.

I think we have finally achieved success. This week she has completed a quilt top and is half way through another one.
Here are the pictures of what she has accomplished and I think her work is fantastic. Now we will work on FMQ LOL.
The first one is the Disappearing Hourglass

Very pretty quilts. She has a wonderful eye for color. Maybe she just needed time to grieve. I hope she continues to quilt and that it brings joy to her.

Her quilts are beautiful. I think FMQ would look much better than tying them.

I agree. She does beautiful work so I would certainly encourage her but not push too hard. She'll be ready when she is. Grief is a very personal process...especially with respect to a sibling.

I have friend with a longarm who has worked out a great trade with another guild member. My friend quilts all the other gal's quilts -- she is a prolific piecer -- and the other hand finishes all the longarmer's bindings.

Perhaps your friend can find a way to make a trade work for her self.
