I posted about a sewing machine on craigslist for $20 that I had the lady hold for me sight unseen. Here is a picture of the machine. It is a Singer FashionMate Model 237 and is in really good shape. The cabinet is rough but other than needing a new belt, it seems to work fine. I have started doing some research on this model and did find that it is all metal gears which is great! Does anyone out there have one and any info you can provide?

That was my first sewing machine, my sister and I got it as a joint birthday present when I was 11 and she was 13. I am now 51. Very simple and easy to use.

I learned to sew on this machine, and I too am in my 50's, hehehe and just slightly older than you both! (55) It is very easy to use.

I think I found it on www.manualsonline.com
They have the manual for the parts, under Singer Model 237M23. You can download it for free. Still looking for a User Guide for you. This is a start anyways, right?

Found it on ebay for $9 and around $4 to ship, coming from Oregon. Ad says Singer 237 Fashion Mate Instructional Manual CD.
