I adopted a couple panels and not sure how to make them come alive. I thought I'd SID around blocks on outer border but stumped about the middle since the fabric is prequilted. Have any of you done a similar project? Suggestions?

    Maybe just add a binding.

The quilt looks great the way it is prequilted. Just add a binding and a cute quilt label.

Yes ... sometimes too much of a good thing ... is too much of a good thing. Just add a GREAT binding.

I did that exact panel for my DGS when he was a baby. I was really lazy and just trimmed it even, rolled over the edge to make a fat binding and hand stitched around.

What about taking coodinating thread to the stitch work on the overalls, the cables on the sweater, etc? That way you have stitching that won't necessarily interfere with the prequilted look.

I would just leave the middle bit as is...could look a bit busy with anything extra.

I think it looks great the way it is. Additional quilting may make it too stiff. Just add a binding.
