Love your frienship star quilt! maybe add some of the star colors for borders after making 3 more blocks to make it longer.

like the idea of doing a row top and bottom of smaller friendship stars then adding a border all around.
If you don't want to do any more stars you could do a courthouse steps. Make the strips on the sides narrow and the strips top and bottom wider.

For yours, you could do smaller versions of the stars that you've done in the middle, or so some other simple design...just straight strips of the colors used in the center would also work.

Another option is to simply put the border on but make sure the top and bottom strips are wider than the side strips. I've done that as well - don't like it as much as the first idea, but it will work.
You can also put 2" strips of the colors on the sides and 4" on top and bottom. Depending on how much you want to add you could insert miniature blocks between the colors and/or extend their background color.
