Well! My back was giving me fits for a bit over a week. I managed to drag my whiney self through the workdays, but home-time was spent mostly on the sofa or in bed. What a waste of two perfectly good weekends. :x

Still ... I managed to get one UFO out of the way in between sessions under the ice bag. and I have FINALLY started the first of the Ugly Fabric projects.

Personally, I don't think this fab (the background) is at all ugly, but the donor sent it as such and a deal is a deal is a deal. no blouse for me.

the beginnings of Lipstick Kisses.

You made them look great.......especially the one with the yellow, it makes me think of the home dyed quilts of the 1800's. Now the lips look like something a teenager would give her boyfriend on valentines day.
How are you ever going to top these?
Glad your back is a bit better...that can be awful

to clarify: the Lipstick Kisses background was sent to me specifically because i invited people to "dump" the fabrics on me from their stashes they thought were ugly. it has taken me forever to finally have time to start actually using what i've received so far. I've challenged myself to find a use for each and every one - either in combination with things from my stash or with other "uglies" to do two things: (1) make quilts for local charities; and (2) prove there is really no such thing as an ugly fabric ... merely fabrics in search of their soul mates for quilts.

the fabs from the other were all from my collection of fabs i like. i started out with a plan to make a completely different quilt, but this is where i was led by my frustration with what was supposed to be a set of alternating blocks. not only did the other set come out a different size, no two from that set were the same wrong size. no way am i taking them apart. i threw the "good" ones together for this and will start the "real" quilt again someday from different fabrics. i guess the other set will gather some more dust until i come up with a way to use them.

anybody want some orphan blocks and pieces of same to play and practice with? i'll "give" them to anybody willing to fork out the postage. i'll even throw in the 4-block top. it would be a good project to practice quilting.

you know what they say Terri, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! There is a thread on here ( I'm too lazy to look it up) but there is some pictures of some really ugly fabric( I think mine won! it looks like chicken poop smeared on a rotten pumpkin!!!) Anyway several of us sent some really ugly (to us) stuff and Patrice is supposed to make it beautiful, or at least not so ugly! and donate them to some charity. I guess in small pieces even mine wouldn't be so bad but the whole piece was just awful!

"From the back of the Couch" sounds like a good story line !
Your quilt is beautiful! Your pain meds must have been working a bit there ! I love the collection of fabrics used!

Lip quilt ! Funny ! You have to smile while making this one ! Much like the mouths of sock monkeys!!

Patrice, Your quilts look wonderful, as always.
Sorry to hear your back has been giving you fits. Mine's been feeling like it's going to pop out this morning.
I like both of your projects above, but that lippersticker one really likes me! Isn't it funny how everyone likes different fabrics?
