Not sure if this posted the first time, so I'll try again. Went to Goodwill looking for material, walked past this baby twice before it said "Here's what you're really looking for." We plugged it in while there and she purred like a kitten. Can't wait to clean and oil her good so I can give her a whirl. She's a commander model #188. And the best part of all is that (drum roll please) she was only $15.99 with a 10 percent discount for a cost of $14.39. Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to think of a name for her, and maybe do a little background check (history). hehehe

Ok, that does it. Gonna have to drop into the local Goodwills often and see if I can find any bargains. There are 4 around here I could easily go to.

You folks must have better Goodwills than we do ... never any antique sewing machines. Sometimes there's semi-modern ones.

And never any decent fabric ... you wouldn't believe the garbage fabric there is, IF there is any at all.

I often wonder if the volunteers scoop the finds before any of the rest of us get a chance! :)

are sewing machines like ships - female?

How about Willie, Wilma, or Will-o for a name since it was a Goodwill find. :)
