My choice would be to use the same red for the binding and a green backing. I'd love to see it when you're finished.

i always put the best quality muslin i can find on the back. learned that from a teacher in nashville, tenn. my creativity is spent on the quilt. the backing is just backing to me.and it usually costs $12 a yard, but i always buy it with at least a 40% off. just got 30 yards for my stash, with 60% off coupons.

This is what I was thinking. I've seen seen some beautiful poinsetta prints.

For me it would depend on the size and intended use: If a bed quilt, Tartan's idea of medium green to reverse for Spring with a bed runner would give you double duty. If it's a lap quilt, a pretty print that looks good on its own in a red, green, ivory, or combo of any or all of the colors in the quilt would make both sides beautiful for a single use. Either way, I'd take it shopping with me and hold it next to every fabric I could find that's in matching color(s) and see what I like best!
