Sunday is my usual charity quilt day. I made several scrappy blocks yesterday, although I will need to make some more for the top and bottom of this quilt. I was not sure where I was going with them when I made them, but the friendship star is one of my favorite blocks.

After I get them made and attached, I'll have to wait until I get more backing flannel. You may understand why I have so many UFOs.

I bought a FQ of ginko fabric, which I was using for a theme for my blocks. I suspect the ginkos really don't matter much on this quilt after all.

Very nice! I would have never thought of doing a scrappy this way. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you.
On Sunday, I came across some light pelon (NOT iron on), so I trimmed that into 11" pieces and used that for the foundation. I was not sure until I got it this far that I would be really enthusiastic about it, or how hard scrappy HSTs would be. Answer: not too bad in this size.

That is cool. I've never seen a scrappy one but I sure do like it. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Thank you all.

There are a great many traditional uses for scrappy (string) units in quilts. I hadn't seen this done before, but I am sure I'll do it again. It'll probably be a week or more before this one is done. I am still pondering whether to make it into a twin sized quilt by adding another round of the turquoise ans of scrappy blocks.
