    I make a lot of flannel quilts and always use warm and natural batting...it really make a nice comfortable quilt.

    When I use fleece on the back I don't put batting in between. The fleece keeps everyone pretty warm on it's own.

    Welcome from Northern California. As others have said, when I use fleece I don't use batting. It just depends on how warm you want it to be. Very nice so far. Be sure to let us know what you do and show us the finished quilt. BrendaK
