Yes, I just recently put a vinyl picnic table cloth up in my dining room. All these years I have not had a design wall. Now, I am also going to get more as I have others pieces to play with. Aren't they great? And Cheap? And moveable? Love them!

How did I survive all these quilting years without one?

I put one up as I was working on the Hexagon Star as I couldn't keep myself straight part of the time. When you can put the blocks up, stand back and decide placement, etc., it just makes it so much easier. I used insulation board as the base and now I wouldn't be without one. Best investment ever, in my opinion to help newbies along the way. No more leaning over the bed or crawling around on the floor! My body parts didn't like that.

I've used those flannel backed tablecloths, too. Especially at workshops and retreats.
But I have finally decided there's nothing better than 100% cotton batting on a design board for having the blocks "stick" to it without pinning. I'm changing the one in my studio.
