I sat down last night and had a play with paper piecing, something I've wanted to do for ages.

And it went SO WELL! It didn't take long to get the hang of at all.

The pale blue one is my first attempt, then I moved onto the other pattern. If I join four blocks together (there's two joined at the bottom of the picture) then the red lines make a diamond with a black center. I figure it would make a really nice scrappy quilt.

So thank you for the inspiration, and the nerve to actually post a picture of my work. :-)

I can imagine it's quite addictive, I think it may well become my favourite style. I love the tiny pieces and the precision of it, and how complicated the patterns can be and still come out perfect.

You have no idea how much self control is required to not rush up to my quilt store right now and buy a whole lot of really bright fabrics to make a massive paper pieced quilt! LOL

Blue chicken, where did you find the patterns for the squares? They are jsut gorgeous, and I'd love to see more of your work.

We're almost neighbours...... across the Tasman anyway!
