Original pattern is in the new issue of Quilt magazine. There it was in blue batiks, but I needed a pattern for the Modas I've been collecting (every one has flowers on it, hence the "florals, kind of" description lol). I made the blocks smaller; just can't make a quilt with large pieces. There's Wildflower Serenade, WSII, Butterfly Garden, and Summer's End in there. Maybe more.
My students knew I was working with the math...so they saw the first blocks and were amazed how it looked in rows. One boy said it looked like bricks--so I used his idea for the name. Back is flannel. I was going to attempt quilting it myself, but the pieced flannel back scares me. A forum member is going to quilt it--she wants some tops to practice on and I have 100% confidence I will LOVE it. I'll let her choose if she wishes to identify herself. School ended today--now I can get more done. Lots of my favorite Modas. Must be the flowers. Awesome! Love your quilt. I actually have that magazine and have blue/black batiks to make the one in the magazine. You did a great job on it. Thanks for posting.
