Iwas in the process of making a 2" piced wreath on a 1" grid fusible interfacing.Well it didn't come out right cause I wasn't accurate when placing them on the grid. So there I was sitting by the t.v. ripping out each and every block...got a new grid and started all over again. But what a mess I had with all of my wrinkled squares!!!!! My granddaughter, whom is 10 years old, came over to me and had a wonderful idea!!!!!! She said , " how about if I use my flat iron ?"...As we sat at the kitchen table she "pressed " out each piece just as good as new!!! She saved the day!!!! She said to me , " maybe this will be helpful to some of you quilting friends." so here I'm passing it on to you!
I also have a Clover tiny iron with a small " shovel", .....the flat iron beats this one " hands down.". Thank you Kearston!!!!!! |
I don't have a flat iron, but I use a curling iron (the one with the really large "curler") to smooth out strips.

Okay, I'm showing my age now...I thought you meant flat iron, as in the old cast iron ones that had to be heated on the wood stove. They would work too but a lot of work. I think you are talking about the hair flat irons or straighteners? Whatever works right?
|
I have an old flat iron in the cabinet thats not being used. thank you Kearston! =)

you can learn something from everybody, right? LOL
|
This one is a hair straightner, works pretty good on hair too!

Yes,it is a "hair" flat iron. Sorry...I should have mentioned that. Keep in mind that curling irons are great for "squashed" fabric bows. It works great!

I knew there was a reason I was keeping those styling tools!
