Do these fabrics tend to frey alot? I'm putting together a rail fence and the sold I got from CT has so many freys and I'm actually afraid it might show through after it's quilted. Has anyone had this happen to them?

During a sale I got several of connecting threads layer cakes (10") squares solid sets. I decided 10" was too big so cut them to 8" and made pinwheels with them. I have had only very minimal fraying. I've been very satisfied with them. I did use spray sizing on them before I cut them. I'm sorry you are having a problem with their solids.

You can get a lot of fraying if the cut was not made on the straight of grain.

I can't speak for the solids, but the Quilter's Candy Mirage line is fabulous...I've bought mega yardage of all of them at least 3 times, and if I still had any $$$ left, I'd buy more, before they quit making them!!!

Nothing scientific here, just opinion gained from my personal experience...solids, regardless of the manufacturer, tend to fray a bit because they are yarn-dyed before the weaving process instead of a design being printed on them after the cloth is woven. It seems like that, anyhow. I lessen this be truing up the fabric before cutting and starching a bit. That said...I just bought about 30 yards of solids from CT when they marked them down. I use them as the background fabric when I make charity quilts or to use as backing on utility items. For the money, you really can't beat the quality, IMHO.
