I've been making my own spray starch lately and its working out great. Best part is it is virtually free (except for the price of the spray bottle)

I mix mine with:
1/4 cup vodka 2 cups water few drops of Lavender essence Vodka is made from potatoes so therefore it is starch. I never get any flakeing from this mixture. |
Interesting. I have this recipe from Mark Lipinski (he was a guest on Simply Quilts). I wonder if the cornstarch in your recipe could be put into this concoction:
Lavender Linen Water Recipe Combine: 2 cups of distilled water 2 ounces of cheap vodka 15 to 20 drops of 100% essential oil of lavender (available at health food stores) or another 100% essential oil scent Make sure you’re using 100% essential oils! Accept and use no substitutions! Add the mixture to your steam iron and enjoy the aroma while you piece. Store the leftover water in the fridge. |
Cornstarch is alot cheaper than vodka and it works great. The only downside is that you have to make a new batch each week but it is not hard to do.

Thank you for an easy recipe to make and use.

Okay I don't drink so I don't know how cheap is cheap vodka? Smirnoff is the only brand I know. How do you store it? I bought the Sta starch to dilute and it flakes terribly. I had been buying the spray can that doesn't flake. So if you make your own only the vodka version won't flake?
