Okay between the time you spend cleaning the house and taking care of family, how much time do you average on quilting?

clsurz 10-04-2011 06:24 AM

Someone cleans my house, family takes care of themselves (only hubby and me), quilt whenever I want to.

Well quilting is my "job". SO I spend quite a bit of time quilting. I am also a full-Time Student at WSU ( GO COUGS!!!), A wife and Mother of 6.
So I actually pay someone to come in and clean my house a couple hours a week as I can't keep up on everything myself.

When things go according to plan, between 7:30 and 9:30 most evenings. More in the summer (we homeschool, so the school year is more busy for me).

DH and I share the load, and some days I never leave the sewing room unless it is to eat. Depends on my mood. That is one of the joys of retirement.

I am retired also. It helps to create something beautiful and useful at the same time.

Usually in the evenings BUT right now we have a grandaughter due in Dec and I have been quilting most of the afternoon too. Between piecing and applique my fingers are working to the bone ! Labor of Love ! Sunbonnet Sue is ready to be handquilted. I will post as soon as I can. Then the animal applique is a real busy one -- the hardest I have done so I am working diligently to be completed. I also am having surgery second week of Nov. so I must be done. Baby shower weekend before Thanksgiving. busy busy busy ~~

Don't spend enough time quilting!!

MellieKQuilter 10-04-2011 07:06 AM

I work full time, single mom of three teens.. so I hope to get at least two or three evenings of quilting in, I can usually squeeze in 2-3 hours on those evenings. On the weekends, it just depends on what is happening.. sometimes I can have the whole day, and sometimes I dont sew a bit. I am pretty lucky as my girls are very good about helping around the house, and doing their own laundry. So, other than dishes and dinner, I only really "clean" once on the weekend.

Children are grown so I quilt as often as I can.
