why is it, almost all microwaves have a "Popcorn" setting and all microwave popcorn says not to use the popcorn setting? What is going on? Who is trying to fool whom?

I guess I never looked at the directions, just put it in and hit the popcorn button. Mine has the sensor that can pop either the small bag or the large. Works perfectly every time. Hhhhmmm! Popcorn? Sounds good

really?? I never read the directions...mine does it perfect on the popcorn setting every time..big or small..now the potato setting..that is a different story....

I press 2 for popcorn (2 mins) & ignore the button. And a Pizza warm-up button, 1 slice or 2?? What about a 1 serving of left-overs? Now that would be handy!

Popcorn sounds good about now!! Don't use that button.

I've never had a microwave with a popcorn setting. Must be a US thing.

I don't get it either. Just made some tonight. Followed the directions on the bag, didn't use the button and the popcorn was mostly burnt :( Very disappointing.

I think the popcorn companies want you to listen for when the popping stops for 5 - 10 seconds between pops instead of trusting the popcorn button. They might think if you use the button and it burns some people might not buy their product again thinking its their popcorn instead of the microwave.
