Double Wedding Ring from Cheryl Phillips' Book

This was my first try so I used the simplest, one strip per quarter circle choice. The roses in the center are fussy cut from a pc of upholstery fabric, but you can put print, embroidery, solids, fussy cuts, pictures....anything in the center that you like. It is quilted in a block-by-block method.

Very pretty quilt! It has an antique look. I would like to learn that quilt block by block method.

Beautiful, certainly looks easier than the one I did, with all the little pieces that had to be perfect so they would fit.

cheryl phyllips has a version of the small pieced arcs but even then, they are strip pieced and fast to do... a friend of mine is doing a denim version right now with t-shirt inserts (the roses are the inserts) and no 'ring' at all the red prints you see are really the back lining...you sew two circs together and the red (really a large seam) fold open to display both arc and red 'melon'.... her denim version is single layered, and the blue denim becomes the arc PLUS the melon, making it appear more like a cathedral window, much simpler but denim quilts often do not need batting and she just took advantage of it's weight and zigzagged the edges over her t-shirt insets...

Fantastic quilt. I like the colors and the roses in the centers.
