Glad this holiday is over
 

I hope I am not the only one to be glad that this holiday is over....its been very trying and long. I think this is the first year that I have not been prepared until the last minute, I was just not into it it this year and it seemed like everything to do with it was a chore and not enjoyable. Anyone else feel this way ???

Yep, sad to say, but I couldn't wait until it was over. My tree is down and is put outside. The kids (6 of them!!) last day of school was Thursday and they were loud and bouncing off the walls ALL day Friday and Saturday. Still have to put away the decoration, wrapping paper, etc but am looking forward to getting back to "normal" and start working some more on my Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt.

I have a hard time every year!!!!! We did not go see DH's grand-kids this year, this is the first year we have not at least gone up on Christmas eve to see them so I was disappointed. I made each of the kids a quilt so it would have been nice to see them. I am glad it is over and I am already dreading next year. Maybe next year I will find a "groove" when we are moved into the new house and not as cramped; but for the last few years it has been hard to get into the spirit; and maybe DH will have got out of his funk.

Yes, I am glad it is over. I thought I was the only one who had the "bah humbugs" this year! Ha!

Some Christmas' are like that. There is too much commercial emphasis for months on end and women in general get overwhelmed, trying to make Christmas magical for everyone (but themselves). Take some quiet time for yourself and exhale and regroup.

I only wish mine was over, my son and his wife and 4 grandkids from out of state will be here bright and early in the morning , like 5 am, They will be here for 3 days I am tired but can not wait to see them. I did the end of my shopping on Saturday and did most of it online this year. I have to drive 100 miles round trip to go to Walmart of Kmart. I did not have any Christmas spirit this year at least for the commercial part of it. No snow, no job and friend passing away on the 19th. Ok vent over!

I'm glad it's over, even if for me it's not over yet. We still have a dinner out on Wed eve with extended family and on Thursday is the 'official' Christmas dinner with the same extended family. Great part of both those is that I don't have to lift a finger! My DD's husband and his family are the 'extended family who will be in the area, and they are the ones doing the work.
I will be at work during the days and just go there after work to eat and socialize.

I AM ready to take all the decor down and put it away, but first will be catching up on all my business accounting tomorrow. Decor will come down this weekend.

THEN --- start thinking of gift ideas for next year.

The last couple of months have been the pits for me. Daughter found out the day after Thanksgiving that she has breast cancer, had surgery on the 15th of Dec and is doing good. I couldn't stay focused on anything and now on New Years eve my husband has decided that he is going to have a birthday party for his mom who will be 95 on that day. I just want things to be back to normal if that is possible.

i am secretly glad that my family lives out of town. I meet my Mom between our 2 cities for the day and lunch. we visit and that's enough. I don't miss the hustle and bustle. Gift cards suffice for all or I make this snack that everyone likes and it is becoming a tradition. I enjoyed my christmas by staying in my jammies and quilting all day!!

I so total agree! I just cringed when I saw the first Christmas decorations go up in the stores. Halloween wasn't even here yet! I believe it is the commercialism that has replaced the spirit of Christmas and the reason for the season. I know that my grandchildren got so much stuff, they didn't even know what to play with first. And it wasn't because their parents spent so much on them...they had family and friends at every turn giving them something. I wish we could get back to a much simpler time...remember when the tree was cut down in the woods and all the ornaments were handmade by the children?
