pattern for granny square, need help!

Good Morning All!

I found this wonderful pattern for a crocheted "quilt". Awesome pattern. However it requires that you make one granny square in the main color and one granny square using two colors (triangle effect). Well I have crocheted a ton of afghans and I can't get this two color square to work correctly. Maybe I am just braindead at this point. I made eight afghans for Christmas, so that is highly possible! Anyway does anyone have a pattern for a full granny square and a half granny square that I could use? I can certainly adapt the pattern to my needs.

Below is the link for the a picture of the "quilt". I just love it!

Thanks for all help in advance!

The pattern for this project is available as a free download from the Ravelry site. It includes instructions for the bi-colored granny square. Is this the pattern that isn't working correctly?

Beautiful design! Have you selected the colors?

As the pattern is on the website as a free download, I assume that you have it? If that is the case, it is possibly the terminology you are having trouble with. You just need to do or see the first one done properly and then you should be fine after that. Therefore, I suggest you get with a friend who can crochet and each of you make one of those blocks from the pattern. That way you can work out what you are doing wrongly together.

The directions have you start with one color, crochet half of the square, then switch colors (leaving the first one still attached) and finish the square. Then you turn the square around and still using the second color work from the back, going back over that same row. Switch colors again and finish the square, still from the back. Does look like a very pretty afghan, but with a LOT of sewing little squares together!

Yes, this is the pattern and it is not working. I did buy a little book at Michael's last week and I think I may be able to do this with a different square ( bigger). I am using the same exact colors because I think it is so striling and will look very nice in my bedroom!

I am going to try and make the squares bigger, following a pattern from another book, yet using the same layout. The 2 inch squares would drive me nuts! The pattern I have is for 4 - 6 inch squares. I realize the bedspread will turn out a little larger, but that is fine.

Thanks all for your help. When this is completed, along with so many other projects in my head, I will post!
