Trouble won't sew!
I had time last night to clean up my little FW and test her out. Put the bobbin back in and a new needle (15-1), tried sewing, the thread broke. Read the instruction book. Put the bobbin back in . . . the right way . . . and the needle . . . the right way. . . and threaded her from left to right this time. :-). Tried sewing . . . the thread broke. Checked the tension and it seems to be working fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions? |
Thread your machine right to left, or inside to outside. Try that.

Yes, I do. Besides waiting for some of the others here who know more than I do, I'd do two things. First I'd go here: http://thefeatherweight221factory.com/default.aspx and read up on the trouble shooting steps he has.
Then I'd turn the little critter up side down and carefully follow his instructions on how the clean out the bobbin area. Just one little piece of thread jammed our FW up completely. I had to totally disassemble the bobbin carrier and hook to get to it. Also there is a curved spring on the part that the hook sits next too. If that spring is bent and there's no room for the thread to pass between it and the other parts it will break the top thread every time. Just some things to check out. Ummm, one more dumb question; you are using the correct type bobbin? The FW machines use a narrow bobbin. Looks like a skinny Class 15 sort of. Joe |
Any updates on this, We have all come to know trouble and are kinda hoping to hear she is fine :)

OK---guess I will jump in since no one else has probably suggested the obvious problem----when you cleaned
your machine bobbin area, did you make sure the little "finger" on the bobbin case is in the correct place ? look at your manual & it will clearly show this. many an owner has paid $$ because of this simple thing. |
