When do you start thinking about Christmas and holiday projects?
 

Is it when the fabrics start appearing in the stores?

Or when the kids go back to school in the fall?

When the weather turns colder?

Or do you procrastinate until December?

Actually I was thinking about it this week. My Keepsake Quilting book came and I ordered some of their Christmas Fabric. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Now I am anxiously awaiting the mail man to arrive with my stuff.

Depends on the project. I bought some charm packs a while back and started doing some pp'd ornaments. Got involved in something else.... If it's for a specific person and if it's a fairly easy project, I'll do it as soon as I can get appropriate materials. I have been known to tell the SIL's to let me know second to their mom's when they're pregnant, however, as each niece/nephew gets a needlepointed stocking for their first Christmas from auntie. Sometimes those come down to the wire!

Usually I wait until the last minute. However, this year I have started making some things already. I have a running list of ideas that would make good gifts. I would like to have my husband's side completed by Labor Day and my side by Thanksgiving. So hopefully I won't procrastinate this year!

I started about a month ago. Sometimes I may see the most perfect fabric , buy it but not start for a few months. I have learned the cycle in some shops for some of the most beautiful Christmas fabrics is pretty short. I have regreted not buying some when I saw them ( July or end of June).... and a few weeks later .. gone!

Started when christmas fabric went on sale after christmas in 2011, will by a few new peices when they come in the lqs in July.

I have lots of Christmas fabric I just have to figure out what to make. I do have some of my FSL ornaments ready to be put together but I shouldn't take a lot of credit for being ahead on that. I started them before Christmas last yr but was trying to use the cone serger thread and sometimes it would work other times it would break. It wasn't until the night before Easter and I was yet again attempting to do FSL that I figured out the problem. So now I also have several baskets ready to be put together for Easter next yr as well. I wanted to use the cone thread on this because I can't see spending a lot on thread on some things. I'll buy the good thread when doing things that need to stand up and last but not these. I was so happy when I finally got it to work. I'm thinking some table runners as well. I know that in my embroidery class we are doing one with poinsettas on it because I helped the teacher pick out some of the designs from Hatched in Africa's quilt show when it was in town.

Never early enough!!! I seem to wait way too late and never have time to finish what I want to do. Hopefully this year I will do better -- but I have some things to do for the Fourth, the summer birthdays and for Halloween (I think those come first -- sigh). I always feel like I am playing catchup for the holidays.

I'm making a snowman quilt right now. I've already appliqued everything onto it and have to sew on his button eyes and buttons for his shirts and embroider his mouth and around his face and then sew the blocks together. First time I ever did something Christmassy this early.
