Quilting a French Braid

I have a French Braid that needs quilting. I am stumped as to what to quilt on it. I don't just want to quilt in the ditch. Nor do I want vines on each individual leg.

I thought about the Baptist Fan because the 'roundness' would soften the angular lines.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've done a couple of french braid quilts. On one, I quilted a swirly vine type up the whole braid section. On the other one, I quilted motifs from the main fabric (moons, suns and stars with just a loopy meander between them. I stitched in the ditch on the separator strips on one and just a wavy line on the other.

Sorry, the 2 braids I did I quilted in the ditch. You micht use big spirals in the braids.

browse through the french braid book & look at the quilts in the gallery- to get some ideas they are all quilted differently- i've made a number of french braids- one of my favorite patterns--- i can not even imagine stitch in the ditch- i do something different in everyone-
if you want to see how fans would look before commiting you can draw your fans on plastic wrap (like the cling stuff) then lay it ontop of your quilt to so you see the lines on top of the quilt.
