Featherweight case deal

I went to a local Singer dealership at lunch today to pick up a tube of lubricant for the 1938 FW I finished refinishing....just put it back together to run a stitch test and it was running very sluggishly. Decided it needed some lubricant in the motor to see if that helps.

Finished shopping but the salesman took me back to the warehouse where he had several machines for sale. I was more interested in the case he had since my machine doesn't have a case.

This was a very pretty repro of the original...he was selling for $79.99, but on sale for $49.99. Rather than go for an original that was banged up and maybe musty I decided to get the new case.

This machine is for my grandson, should he someday decide to learn to sew. In the meantime, his Mom can use it. Really wanted a case for it and this one looked the best I've seen. Sturdy and just like the originals.

Will take a pic of the machine and case when the machine is all waxed and polished and ready for her grand reveal.

I've seen the reproduction cases advertised, never seen one in person. How does the quality of construction look to you?

Joe- I'm very pleased with the case I purchased today. It's solid and sturdy. Handle is strong and I have no concern that it won't be able to handle the weight of the machine. No worries with the smell... inside of the case is lined and there's a small box to the side...Even came with a couple FW bobbins. Here are some pics. I think it's a good deal for $49.95

That doesn't look bad at all. Enough difference that you wouldn't mistake it for an original too.

Have you tried the machine in it yet?

Nice case. I'd like to find one because I have a FW without a case.... but I have lots of patience.... I'll find one sometime.

I have the replacement cases for sale on my website: www.thequiltgal.com. I have used them with my machines and they are sturdy!
The main difference with the replacement cases and the new ones is that there is no bracket in the top to hold the foot controller. There is room under the accessory holder on the left side for the foot controller and still room for the machine.
You got a good deal because the wholesale cost of these cases is pretty steep.

I would certainly buy a case for that price!
